Meet Nya! She is a model and an actress who has been featured in Empire, The Wiz and more! Read more about her journey and how she uses her platform to inspire many others!

What inspired you to become to a model?

I have always loved being in front of the camera since I was little. I participated in pageants, musicals, photoshoots, and dance recitals as a child.

What does being a model means to you?

Being a model means expressing who you are as a person. Not only do you express yourself through modeling, but I also believe it means to inspire and motivate through the pictures message.

Through modeling and having an amazing platform on Instagram, how are you able to inspire other women?

Recently, it started to hit me that I have a great influence on Instagram, and that my followers actually pay attention to what I do. My platform allows me to inspire other woman by portraying confidence, determination, and exuding positive energy. I am able to share stories and testimonies with my followers with hopes of encouraging them, and most of the time it reaches a variety of people. Receiving DM’s about how I’ve inspired someone through my content really is the best feeling.

You are also an actress!  What have you been featured in? What is your journey like being an actress?

I have also been acting since I child. From 4th grade to 10th I was enrolled in schools centered around the arts where I majored in theater. I realized my passion wasn’t for theater, but for film and production. I love the idea of being on set. I have been featured in a Mielle Organics commercial, Real Lessons You-tube Series, Empire, and Downfall (Independent Film), and The Wiz.

Explain your journey that got you to this current point in your life.

I started as a Theater student in Jacksonville, Florida, and transferred to an academic based school my sophomore year in high-school. I wanted to be able to do theater and also do sports. I was a cheerleader and heavily active on the flag football team. In High School I did three pageants that prepared me for public speaking, modeling, walking, and staying fit! I graduated in 2014 from Paxon and participated in a viral photoshoot that started to increase my numbers on Instagram. After graduation, I attended Missouri State University where I was able to work on the set of Empire, I transferred from MSU to FAMU as a broadcast journalism student, and the dream is still in the works. God, perseverance, determination, and prayer is what got me to where I am today.

Throughout your journey in life, what was your biggest flaw? How were you able to overcome it?

One of my biggest flaws growing up was definitely being a perfectionist. I never liked putting out work that didn’t meet its full potential, and because of this many ideas that I had in the past were never harvested because I strived for perfection which doesn’t exist.

What are some tips that you can give to women who wants to follow your path?

The best advice I can give is to just go for it! Stop waiting on the right moment, the right time because it will only keep you from reaching your dreams. Stay confident throughout your process and focus on you and your journey. Pray, set goals, and execute them!

Why do you believe that Women’s Empowerment is important?

Women Empowerment is important because it paves the way for all women to unapologetically be themselves without fear of judgement! Empowering women is empowering the community… it all starts with us! People in general need empowerment, and a source of motivation that inspires all of us. Empowering others isn’t just inspiring, but uplifting, applauding at the right time, and performing acts of kindness. It creates a positive environment for others to build confidence, and create that self-love that everyone needs.

What are some future goals that you have for yourself?

I have many future goals. I plan to win an Oscar, work with Tyler Perry Studios, Will Packer, and Issa Rae. I want to be financially free living in LA by 27 and become an established entrepreneur/host/actress/model by the age 25.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years?

In the next 5 years I see myself in LA attending my first or second movie premier!

The purpose of the Fabuluxe platform is to help women feel fabulous and sophisticated. What advice or words of encouragement that you can give to our readers about feeling fabulous as a woman?

Feeling fabulous as a woman is more than what you wear and how you look. It’s about the walk, talk, and the confidence that lights up the place when you walk in a room. I can wear a cute T-shirt with some leggings, and still feel fabulous because of how confident I feel on the inside. Feeling fabulous is also feeling good on the inside out which includes taking care of your body, eating right, praying, reading books, always learning, and reaching goals.

Be Fabuluxe!
