Meet Kamri! Kamri began the #CantCallMeUglyCampaign to create self confidence and to be happy with yourself!

Kamri, tell us more about yourself!

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I am a recent graduate of Jackson State University where I played collegiate soccer. I started freelance modeling about 2 years ago and have been able to grow and expand my brand.

What inspired you to begin the #CantCallMeUglyCampaign? What is the true meaning behind it?

The inspiration for my #CantCallMeUglyCampaign came from my own insecurities. I created it as a reminder to myself to keep going and not allow others to phase my happiness. The hashtag stands for not allowing society to portray Its definition of beauty onto you. The world creates a image of what a beautiful person is and some of us constantly try to reach that “goal”. This movement is to remind people to embrace their insecurities and stay true to themselves.

What does #CantCallMeUglyCampaign means to you?

To me #CantCallMeUglyCampaign means not allowing what someone else says to phase you. Someone can verbally say the words “You’re ugly” or whatever your insecurity is, but by staying true to yourself and knowing you are beautiful those words will never phase you.

What are some future goals that you have for yourself and as a freelance model?

I would actually like to be signed to an established agency in a year or so.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years with your #CantCallMeUgly platform?

I would love to be able to continue hosting #CantCallMeUglyCampaign events around the world for people to be able to leave feeling empowered. I want people to feel inspired by the movement and use it as a reminder to stay true to themselves and to not let any negativity phase them.

The purpose of the FabuLuxe platform is to help women feel fabulous and sophisticated. What advice or words of encouragement that you can give to our readers about feeling fabulous as a woman?

You are worth it. Don’t let the perception of beauty that is created by others be your definition of beauty. Remember to stay true to yourself and help uplift those around you. People tend to portray their insecurities onto others to make themselves feel better. You don’t need to dim someone else’s light to shine on your own.

Be FabuLuxe!
